Student Work Experience Opportunities (SWEP)

Fairmont Chateau Whistler is now recruiting for the following student opportunities to start inSpring/Summer 2025: 

  • Housekeeping - Room Attendant
  • Second Cook/First Cook
  • Stewarding Attendant (Kitchen Dishwasher)
  • Golf Operations / Turf Care 
  • Server Assistant
  • Host
  • Banquets Server
  • Barista/Deli Attendant
  • Front Desk Agent 
  • Reservations & Royal Service Agent 

Successful applicants will be matched to available positions based on previous relevant work experience, area of studies and the hotel’s operational requirements. For this opportunity you must be currently enrolled in a Hospitality, Tourism, Recreation, Turf Care, Golf Operations or Culinary post graduate program.

Qualifications

If you are talented, motivated and enrolled in a hospitality, tourism, culinary or hotel and restaurant management program, our Spring/Summer 2025 student positions are your opportunity to relate your classroom study to the day-to-day operations of Canada’s most breathtaking resorts. 

Food & Beverage Positions

  • Currently enrolled in a hospitality, tourism or hotel and restaurant management program
  • Must have BC Serving It Right certification 
  • Previous Food & Beverage experience preferred 

Culinary Division Positions

  • Currently enrolled in a culinary program
  • Previous experience as a cook an asset 
  • Must be able to lift, carry and pull up to 50lbs
  • Standing and walking throughout shift and exposure to kitchen equipment including large and small ovens, stoves, steam kettles, mixers, sheeter, fryers, rational ovens, steamers, tilt skillets, fridges and freezers as well as blast freezers 

Housekeeping/ Stewarding Division Positions: 

  • Currently enrolled in a hospitality, tourism or hotel and restaurant management program
  • Previous similar experience an asset
  • Must be physically fit and able to stand and walk throughout shift and lift, carry and pull up to 50+lbs.

Room Division Positions 

  • Currently enrolled in a hospitality, tourism or hotel and restaurant management program 
  • Previous front office/reservations/ hospitality/housekeeping experience preferred  
  • Previous Property Manager (Opera) experience an asset 

Golf Operations / Turf Care Positions:  

  • Currently enrolled in a Golf Operations /Turf Care management program 
  • Previous similar experience an asset 
  • Must be physically fit and able to stand and walk throughout shift and lift, carry and pull up to 50+lbs. 

Visa Requirements: 
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.

Starting Pay Rates: Ranging from $17.40 - $22.05 per hour, depending on position
